Assessment Overview

Your DSA assessment will follow the structure of a friendly discussion with an experienced assessor, so please don’t worry (we promise we won’t make you do any tests!).

You will talk about any difficulties you have with your studies and look at the different support strategies that can potentially be put in place for you through DSA. The assessment is very friendly with a relaxed, informal atmosphere and will last around 1.5-2 hours

Take a look through the process of booking an assessment below, which should help guide you through the steps you need to take.

1

Select an assessment location

We have assessment centres in Leeds, Barnsley, Bradford, York and Manchester. Select the one most convenient to you, whether that be near your university or your home.

All of our centres are DSA-QAG accredited and we can assess any disability or specific learning disability. Give our team a call if you have any access requirements or general questions and we can talk you through everything.

Send us your documents

You will need to send over some documents prior to your assessment, this is so that your assessor can prepare in advance of seeing you.We need to be sent:

  • Your DSA approval letter
  • A copy of your medical evidence
  • A completed pre-assessment form (see link below)

We accept scans, images, PDFs-whatever is easier for you. If you could have them ready to send over, that would make us very happy!

Wait for your report to be written

Your assessor now has up to 10 working days to write a report based on your assessment. This will outline their recommendations for the best support to be recommended to you through DSA.

You have the option to see a draft of this report, before it is finalised, or for it to be sent straight to your funding body-it’s totally up to you!

6

Wait for your support to be agreed

You will receive a letter via email which will give you a step by step instructions on how to organise and order you support.
